The salt mine in Wieliczka is one of the most interesting and well known tourist venues in Poland. People come to see the effects of more than seven centuries of underground mining of salt. We can say that it is the longest working company in Poland. For many tourists from all over the world Wieliczka is often a symbol of Poland. The salt mine was enlisted on the first UNESCO World List of Cultural and Natural Heritage in 1978. The Tourist Route is composed of about 2 km of corridors, many chambers and chapels. The air underground is good for the people with asthma and allergy problems. There is even sanatorium underground.

I really enjoyed my tour with Anna and her flexibility in timing. She made the trip a lot of fun, it was like traveling with a friend. Not only did I get information about the Salt Mine, but also a peak into everyday Polish life.
