The two not to miss archaeological highlights of West Sicily!
Meeting point for our tour is the entrance of the archaeological park of Selinunte, the largest archaeological area of Europe! I will show you the three temple ruins of the Eastern hill side, the Acropolis with Selinunte's oldest temple in honor of god Apollo and part of the former Polis: the main road and foundations of punic houses dated to the 4th century b. C
Before we leave Selinunte we can have a short lunch break at Marinella Selinunte close to the beach (not included)
Than we move from Selinunte to Segesta (you have to do this with your own car)
As soon as we arrive in Segesta we start our visit with the hill side where once the city was. On the top of the city hill we see the recent excavations of the ancient Agora (main square), the ruins of the Norman period (a castle, a church and a mosque) and last but not least the Greek Roman Theatre.
The second part of our Segesta tour is dedicated to the Greek temple from the 5th century b. C. sitting on an isolated hill.
