archeology, wine and a good lunch
Starting from the Oristano area this tour on the Sinis peninsula in the west of Sardinia will give you an excellent insight in the civilizations that lived here from the 1500 BC to today.
The morning is dedicated to visiting the Giant stone statues of Monte Prama, this site has lately acquired world fame due to the etraordinary statues that are still being dug up.
Next we continue to the cape of San Marco on the Sinis peninsula, where we visit the very interesting punic roman excavations of Tharros.
On our way there we can also visit the small 6th century church of San Giovanni.
Wheather permitting there's also the possibility to go for a swim on one of the White sandy beaches.
For lunch you can taste one of the typical products of Cabras, like the botargo made from mullet eggs, or depending on the season the artichokes.
After lunch we'll leave the coast and visit a winery where it's possible to taste some of the local wines. Vernaccia - white and Nieddera - red are the main varieties cultivated here.
