Wellington, New Zealand

Growing up in a town of 800 people in the rural heartland of southern New Zealand, I have always had a strong attachment with our country's natural beauty.

On leaving home I moved to the tourism resort of Queenstown, where after working as an extra (I played an Uruk-Hai Orc) on the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy, I finally joined the travel industry and guided my first tour in 2002.

Around this time I helped author Ian Brodie scour film locations as he worked on the official Lord of the Rings Location Guidebook, and I am recommended as a private guide in the official Hobbit Location Guidebook.

When it was time to leave Queenstown, my American wife and I made a list of all the things we wanted out of a New Zealand city and (except for the weather - which is admittedly much better than the reputation suggests) Wellington was the clear winner. We moved here in 2010 and have since been enjoying life in New Zealand's most cosmopolitan city.

I've continued guiding in Wellington since 2010 and finally started my own private tour company in 2013, offering tours locally, regionally and nationwide. I relish the opportunity to show you why I love my life in Wellington and in New Zealand, and to provide you with the best possible experience while you're here.

I guess I guide family style. I'm quite an open book and like to keep things informal, while respectful and discreet. I come to work expecting to make lifelong friends and work hard to make sure we all have a great time.

Credentials

I've been a professional tour guide/driver in New Zealand since 2002. I began guiding local 4x4 tours in Queenstown, following my time working as an extra on the Lord of the Rings film trilogy. I've been guiding local tours in Wellington since 2010 and private nationwide tours for about the same time. I finally started my own private guiding company in 2013 and continue to offer private tours locally, regionally and nationwide.
