Private tour - Transportation included
After a 1 hour and 30 min drive through-and beautiful surrounding valleys, you'll stop at San Gimignano*, an enchanting medieval village that has taken the name of the Bishop Gimignano, who saved the City from the barbarians. You'll have time at your leisure to explore the city with me first and then on your own.
Driving west we'll reach then the beautiful town of Volterra*. A trading center since the days of the Etruscans, Volterra sits on a rocky plateau and is protected by medieval ramparts. The exploration on foot will start at Piazza dei Priori, one of the most beautiful squares in Italy, and defined as a bellicose assembly of towers and palaces, famous today also for being the set of the movie Twilight Saga: New Moon. Stroll to Piazza San Giovanni to admire the temples dedicated to prayer, the Baptistery and Cathedral. Enjoy shopping at leisure, for alabaster perhaps.
Back to Livorno port by 6pm
Port to San Gimignano, Volterra and back to the port.

This was our first Tours by Locals experience and Massimo was fantastic. We were on a cruise and meeting him was easy and he was punctual. We got back to the ship with plenty of time. He was a lot of fun and very friendly. His van was very comfortable and clean. Our last trip to the area was a cruise excursion and although it was enjoyable Massimo went to great lengths to help us experience more of the non-commercial side. He scheduled lunch for us at a very nice winery. THANKS MASSIMO!
