Art Deco Napier, a wine tasting and great scenery - in a superb chauffeur-driven vintage car!
What better way to explore Napier than in a stunning vintage or classic car with me? I will show you all the highlights and bring historic events to life with true stories from the time and plenty of photo opportunities.
Napier - famously destroyed by an earthquake in 1931 - was rebuilt in the Art Deco style. I will be happy to adjust the itinerary to include the things you most want to see, including for example:
Art Deco City
Bluff Hill Lookout Point (great views)
Ahuriri's historic fishing village
National Tobacco Co Building (Rothmans Building)
Art Deco homes in Marewa
The Six Sisters
Next, visit a top local winery for a tasting before heading out of town to ascend Te Mata Peak (Hawkes Bay's highest point) for stunning 360-degree views.
Finally, a short stop at a local cafe for refreshments before returning you to the drop-off point.
The tour itinerary can be fully customised to ensure you enjoy your time with me to the fullest. Starting in central Napier, we cruise the Central Business District as I share with you the story of Napier's destruction by earthquake and subsequent rebirth as the Art Deco Capital of the world.
Up to Bluff Hill Lookout for spectacular views over the Port of Napier, then down to the historic fishing village of Ahuriri and the famous National Tobacco Company building. On next to the Napier suburb of Marewa to see the streets full of Art Deco homes built in the late 1940s, then on to a top class local winery for a tasting.
*Optional* stop at a local chocolate factory for a tasting.
Onward out into the open countryside taking in rivers, estuaries and open farmland until we reach the village of Havelock North, where we drive to the summit of Te Mata Peak to enjoy fantastic views (weather permitting).
Finally a pause for teas, coffees or something stronger before returning to the drop off point in Napier.

Estimated Local Cash Needed
25 New Zealand Dollars - estimated possible costs per person to cover refreshments or snacks along the way, which are of course optional.
If you want to purchase wine during the tour, you can expect to pay an average of between US$15 and US$40 per bottle, which is not included in the estimated figure. The majority of wineries in Hawkes Bay accept Visa and Mastercard credit cards, so it is unnecessary to carry large amounts of cash.
Food and drink over and above the wine tasting is not included in the tour price.
