Venetian and Italian specialities in an authentic environment
This tour is a unique occasion to see a Venetian home and prepare some recipes after the Italian culinary tradition.
Let's spend some hours together: cooking, drinking, eating and chatting.
This is hands-on! -not just a demo. I believe that unless we practice, we won't learn. Our meal is accompanied by some good local wine and I'll show you how to prepare the popular spritz!
Notice: Rialto market is closed on Sundays and Mondays. If you book a cooking class on these days, I'll do the food shopping in advance.
Upon meeting I'll present our menu and walk you to the Rialto market. It's very interesting to have a look at the fresh produce and large variety of fish sold here every morning from Tuesday to Saturday. But here is a good concentration of bakeries, butchers and cheese shops, too.
The market walk and shopping last approx 30 mins. When we are done we head home, where we'll spend some hours together between cooking and lunch.
Nowadays Rialto market is a food market, but in the past centuries this was one of the most important commercial hub of the Old Continent.
Merchants from everywhere would meet here for the buying and selling of spices, precious stones, textiles. . . . and here is where our culinary adventure begins!
