Landscapes, history, culture and wines.

Everyday will present constant changes, driving along three different canyons: the colorful "Quebrada de las Conchas, the amazing shaped "Quebrada de las Flechas" and the green and populated with cactus "Quebrada de Escoipe".
The traces of the old inhabitants will take us back in time, the altitude and dry weather will give us unique wines, and the soil will provide the most tasteful vegetables.
We will take our time to enjoy everycorner, and if you want to walk or bike under the clear blu sky that caractherises the area.

I reccomend this tour in 3 days, it is possible to do it in 2 days, avoiding some activities.
Day 1: We will drive along "Las Conchas Valley" a colourful gorge with a lot of particular formations (optional to ride a bike here, or do a 2 hours hike). In Cafayate we visit a winery and taste their particular wines.
Day 2: We will follow the 40 road along the "Calchaqui" river. At "Quebrada de las Flechas" we will have one of our best highlights of the trip, with white carved sandstones. We can also visit the winery of Colomé and the unique contemporany art museum James Turrel. After some colonial towns, we will arrive to the pacefull town of Cachi.
Day 3: We will go to "Los Colorados", on our way to "Los Cardones National park". then we will reach the highest point at "Piedra del Molino", to take the "Quebrada de Escoipe", where you will have the oportunity to go downhill (by car or bike) sorrounded by high green mountains and cactus. We arrive to Salta in the afternoon.

A Recent Review of this tour

Graciela was welcoming, informative, well-prepared and we enjoyed our 3 days with her a lot. She helped us book the right hotels in advance and kept us informed of options as they arose. If you can figure out how to arrange it, however, I suggest 2 nights at Colome as we got there pretty late, just in time for a rushed wine tasting and gallery visit, then dinner. The hotel and winery is fantastic. and I am sure there are wineries nearby where you could spend a few enjoyable hours tasting or touring.
