Burning fields, boiling water, breathing land. A region to discover!

Goethe defined the Phlegrean Fields „the most marvellous region of the world".
Here was founded the oldest colony of the Magna Grecia, the Roman emperors spent their holidays, writers and travellers sang of the grandeur of this region.

The „Land of Fires" form one of the most volcanically active places in the world and is one of the most unique and suggestive places you could visit; has a unique geophysical conformation, so the land breathes amid the fumes of sulphur in a harmonious and stunning landscape of gentle hills, lakes and inlets of exceptional beauty. This is the land of myth, legend and tales.

The nice climate, the existence of ancient remains and literary memorials, the ruins of majestic monuments of the Roman time, have always stirred the imagination of poets and writers of all ages.

The Phlegraean Fields are a vast, complex group of existing craters, where we also have the youngest mountain in Europe, known as Monte Nuovo, which emerged in the fall of 1538.

Itinerary

The tour starts in Pozzuoli, at the Flavian Amphitheatre, one of the biggest of the Roman time.
Pozzuoli is one of the most fascinating archaeological areas. Main port of the region, the city has lots of monuments of the roman times: the temple of Serapis, a fish and meat market, close to the port (I-II c. AD). testifies the lively commerce in Pozzuoli.
After a panorama tour we'll arrive in Cuma: the acropolis is all that is left of the first city of the colonies of Magna Grecia, founded in VIII century B. C. It sits in a splendid and strategic position, facing the sea and today is a suggestive archeological park.
This is the place where Aeneas interrogated the Sybil about his future.
Next stop will be Baia, with its small harbor, considered a vacation place during the Roman times. The city hides a treasure underwater, the ruins of a roman villa that is possible to see only aboard of a boat with a glass bottom.
Unfortunately the Volcano Solfatara is still closed, due to an accident occurred in September 2017
