Adventurous tour with historical tram
Trieste is an amazing Italian city with reach historical and cultural background that played a strong role for the economy of the Hapsburg Empire and later Austro-Hungarian monarchy.
On our walking tour you'll see some beautiful Catholic and Orthodox churches and one of the most beautiful synagogues in Middle Europe, built in a Syrian style. You'll also see palaces of remarkable architectural value in Neo-Classical style and Italy's largest square overlooking the sea, Piazza Unità d'Italia.
After walking tour in Trieste, we are going to nearby town Opcina with an oldfashion tram. Tram is a 105 year old rack-railway line that connects Piazza Oberdan in Trieste to Opicina. Spectacular views on Karst landscape and a ride with an museum tram is truly an adventure.
We'll start our tour on Piazza D'Unita, Italy's largest square facing the Adriatic sea. There are several beautiful buildings of architectural maximum value on the square (Town Hall, Government building, Loyd's building, Caffee degli Specchi). We'll continue to Piazza della Borsa dominated by Palazzo della Borsa (the Old Stock Exchange). Other important buildings include Palazzo Tergesteo, Palazzo Dreher (the New Stock Exchange) and the Art Noveu Casa Bartoli. On Canal Grande banks there are several churches, buildings and squares to be seen(Serbian Orthodox church, Ponte Rosso, neoclassical church of St. Anthony Thaumaturge).
We are going to nearby town Opcina with an oldfashion tram. Tram is a 105 year old rack-railway line that connects center of Trieste to Opicina. It is a 20 min ride to Carso plateau, 348 m above sea level with spectacular views on landscape and sea.
