Pennsylvania Avenue is one of DC's most recognizable thoroughfares. From the White House to the Capitol, it has been home to inaugural parades, mass protests, street festivals, and storied institutional buildings past & present. Walk the Avenue and learn about the emancipation of enslaved DC residents, a grand march for the women's vote, the infamous Snow Riot, the evolution of DC Home Rule, and much more. Stops include Old City Hall, the National Council of Negro Women, National Archives, Newspaper Row, Freedom Plaza, the new National World War I Memorial, and more. Duration: 120 minutes. Location: All of the tour takes place outdoors. Please dress weather appropriate.
The tour itinerary will be the following: - Old City Hall and the Lincoln Statue - 6th & Penn: site of the Snow Riot - National Council of Negro Women - Navy Memorial -National Archives (outside) - (The original) FDR Memorial - FBI building - Newspaper Row - Wilson Building & Barry Statue - Freedom Plaza - National World War I Memorial Please send me a message if you would like to customize this tour.
