Seattle and the Northwest are known for their rugged outdoors. You can’t really get to know this area without spending time in our temperate rain forests – to experience the mountains and woods that truly make this part of the world unique. Allow me to introduce you to one of my favorite high-ROI hikes. I’ll guide you along this hike and introduce you to the stories and tales told by our original Native inhabitants and the trees, plants and critters that share their homes in nature. We’ll hike 3 miles roundtrip to Twin Falls, which follows a beautiful raging river in a stunning old growth forest. We’ll shake hands with a nearly 700-year-old Douglas Fir tree. After our hike, we’ll enjoy fresh brewed coffee and snacks in a treehouse built by world famous treehouse guru Pete Nelson. We’ll stop by the town made famous by the Twin Peaks TV show. And we’ll end our day at the magnificent Snoqualmie Falls, the region’s largest waterfall. Get out of the city and Journey into the Woods!
• Pick up from the Port or downtown Seattle. • Drive over the world’s longest floating bridge on Lake Washington between Seattle and Bellevue. Learn how the previous version actually sank into the lake! • Drive 30 miles to the Twin Falls trailhead. • Hike for 60-80 minutes along the South Fork of the Snoqualmie River to the waterfalls. Though mainly flat, the well-worn trail climbs 580 feet over several ascents and descents. • After our hike, we’ll drive 20 minutes to stop for coffee at a shop that includes a treehouse built by internationally renowned treehouse guru Pete Nelson. • Drive 10 minutes to the magnificent Snoqualmie Falls, the region’s biggest waterfall. This can be seen via a short walk from the car. Guests who want can walk down a pathway to view the falls and feel the mist from below. • We’ll end the day with a visit to North Bend, the town where Twin Peaks was filmed, and – for those who are interested - a visit to Twede’s Café or simply a walk around town. • Return to original pickup spot.
