Savannah is known for her historic beauty. Join me on this private tour that details how this came to be. In this tour, I detail the less talked about story of Savannah's beauty and prosperity. James Oglethorpe's charter prohibited blacks in the colony slave or free, but he used slave labor to clear the land making them the first labor source. Before the charter came to an end, captive Africans and Caribbean beoken Africans were bought and sold in Savannah. Dtive through the first streets, pass by public buildings, see logging and later irrigation canals to rice plantations that were all "slave work. "Enslaved boys and girls, men and women were the colonies' and the country's original sustained labor source. Learn about African American tales of horseshoes, copper pennies and the secret of haint blue homes. First African Baptist Church, a must see, was a site of the Underground Railroad. Learn all of this and more.
Meet the group at the African American monument. Convene the group and go to the barracoons for group tour/discussion. Return to pick up point or other previously agreed upon place.
