We will hit many high points on our tour of "America's most historic square mile. " Beginning at the National Park Visitor's Center at 6th and Market Sts. , we will visit many sites that contributed to the birth of our nation, including the famous Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, Carpenter's Hall, First Bank of the US, Ben Franklin's "house" and neighborhood, Christ Church, the Betsy Ross house, Quaker Meeting House and Franklin's grave. Topics to be explored include the multiple contributions of Benjamin Franklin, Quakerism and religion, political and economic growth, slavery and abolition, art, culture and the everyday lives of ordinary people. I am a retired high school and college history and government teacher with two MAs and 30 years of experience. As such, I have developed wisdom, a good sense of humor and don't take myself too seriously. I have many amusing anecdotes and love to answer questions.
