A tour with a 6-, 9- and 11-year old is very different than a tour for two senior citizens. Some guests want to focus on New York's iconic tourist sights, others prefer off-the-beaten-path places. Instead of lingering at the airport, you could have a wonderful time exploring Hoboken, a charming town located right across the Hudson River from Manhattan. Besides its spectacular views of Manhattan, Hoboken is known for its history, beautiful brownstones, and being the birthplace of Frank Sinatra.

Completely undiscovered by tourists, Hoboken holds stories of the Gilded Age, immigration, and many inventions that defined the modern world—from the first steam engine to the first ice cream cone, as well as the story of an unsolved 19th-century murder that inspired a tale by Edgar Allen Poe.

I've lived in Hoboken for over 20 years in a traditional Italianate brownstone—an example of 19th-century architecture Hoboken is so famous for. I know many local places and people; my next-door neighbor owns one of the most popular and tasty restaurants in town (located right on my street!) Speaking of which—nobody leaves Hoboken without a taste of authentic Italian food, and we will certainly stop by for a bite.

New York City is far more than the Empire State Building, Times Square & Rockefeller Center - all of which are in borough of Manhattan (New York's center of business & tourism). Most visitors never venture beyond Manhattan to the other boroughs of the city, yet more than 80% of us live in these areas.

On this tour I take you out of Manhattan to Brooklyn, Bronx and Queens (you can substitute Harlem for the Bronx or Queens). Here, you will get a taste of the "real New York. " Touring by private vehicle allows us to travel quickly between the boroughs using the interconnecting highways. The same tour by subway would literally take days (plus what you mostly experience would be underground).

We will visit local neighborhoods, each with their own unique sights, sounds, markets and characters. We will hop out and stroll local streets. We will have snacks and lunch at local places. "Not for nutin, " but you might even learn a new vocabulary (not all of which should be used in the company of delicate others).

I have lived in Manhattan for over 45 years, so many areas (including the WTC) are personal for me. We will see where my father's first office was in 1946 - which I learned later upon going through my father's papers was where my office was in 1993 on the day of the first attack on the World Trade Center!

Walk with me and hear how the city's neighborhoods grew and were affected by changes in transportation and shipping, how city planners moved for changes that would benefit them and their businesses - and how their businesses began to be outmoded when the world of the internet gained primacy. The High Line was once a freight Rail Line, now it has been reclaimed and is now a 1. 5m/2. 4km Public Park, with great views

- Native plants and wildflowers in the heart of the former manufacturing and wharf district.
- Beautiful and unique architecture, as this park has spurred an incredible amount of new buildings.
- So many of the old warehouse structures remain, most are repurposed.

We will recall how a derelict freight line, has become an iconic NYC destination. I can share personal recollections of rail transport in New York and the region. That is passenger service, freight lines, trolleys and cable cars. Its time to remind everyone, Manhattan and 4 of NYC's 5 boros are on islands and they have a lot of people and materials, that need to move in and out
