This tour will explore architecture and design along the main Midtown section of NYC's historic Park Avenue. We will discuss and see several buildings, as well as the engineering that made these developments possible. Discover why this stretch of Midtown is seen as a showcase of some of NYC's most impactful architecture. We will start near Grand Central Terminal, and up over by 59th Street.
We will start by Grand Central Terminal, and make our way up Park Avenue, with just one detour. We will see buildings by: Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Walter Gropius, Philip Johnson, Skidmore Owings & Merrill, Foster + Partners, Rafael Viñoly, and more. We will see a couple interiors, though this is predominantly a walking tour.
