This walking tour offers a glimpse into the past, showcasing the transformation of historic buildings into modern spaces while sampling traditional Chinese, Italian, and Jewish foods. Discover the impact of immigration on these neighborhoods and uncover the stories of tenement life. Not only will you see interesting architecture but we’ll stop to get a nosh or two along the way. I grew up in this beautiful neighborhood and know many of its secrets that I would love to show you. This tour will take you through 3 historic and frequently visited areas of Manhattan. The itinerary is as follows: 1. We'll start in Chinatown and walk the historic streets and learn about Chinese and Irish immigration. You'll experience the area of the 5 points and see one of the oldest brick buildings in New York. You'll experience some of the best dumplings around. 2. Next we will walk into Little Italy and learn its history. We'll visit the original St. Patrick Basilica and eat some great pizza. 3. Our tour continues into the Lower East Side where you will experience old synagogues that are still functioning and some of which were re-purposed. You'll learn the history of tenements and see old bath houses and even an African American burial site. We stop for some pickles and pastries. Throughout the tour, you'll experience the impact of immigration on these neighborhoods and uncover their stories and history
