I truly believe the best way to see New Orleans is by bike. You get an intimate, pedestrian perspective, but with greater range. Our city is very flat and much smaller than visitors expect, and most of the really good stuff is within easy biking distance. Aboard pedal-assisted e-bikes, nothing is far away, and getting there is Big Fun! During this riding experience around Uptown New Orleans, you'll discover more than you thought there was to know about the Crescent City. Throughout the day, my passion for my hometown will be evident as I provide you with fun and interesting local color. We'll get into nooks & crannies you never would have found on your own, and wander from one charming and lovely neighborhood to another. You'll learn how they all fit together with each other and the NOLA big picture. And of course, there will be ample local food & drink establishments accessible for rest, refreshment, and acquiring more local insights! Come and spend a good time riding with me! Customizable itinerary:
-We'll start our day meeting at Dat-Dog for an overview of New Orleans' story and culture, plus a preview of our adventure. -Mounting our bikes, we'll start exploring the magnificent live-oaks and mansions of the Garden District. -We'll then ride further downriver to the historic lower Magazine district for a look around it's eccentric boutiques and cafes, where we'll have a refreshment inside one. -Turning upriver, we'll wander through the humbler immigrant precincts on the river-side of Magazine, including the Irish Channel, and contrast these densely packed double shotguns and cottages to the somewhat pastoral Garden District just blocks away. -Wandering further upriver to Napoleon Ave, we'll turn lake-bound on this wide and lovely corridor, with a pause to discuss the many Carnival parades which dominate this avenue for 2 weeks every year. -Finally returning from whence we came, we'll wrap up our journey with another refreshment or sustenance while I advise you on the remainder of your stay in NOLA.
