Your experience will begin with an overview of New Orleans' fascinating story while enjoying traditional café au lait and beignets at the famous Café du Monde. Then you will stroll across Jackson Square as I tell you all about the famous buildings in this "postcard". From there I will show you some of my favorite buildings and share some of my favorite stories as we wander through the lower "Vieux Carré", and end at the famous French Market. Along the way, my expert commentary will introduce you to New Orleans' famous architecture and expose you to many of the oldest and most photo-worthy examples of this famous city's iconic styles. Of course, I'll share with you my thoughts on where to eat and drink, listen to real New Orleans music, . . . and where not to! So, it's in your best interests to book this tour early in your stay, to ensure the rest of your visit is as fun as your time with me. The itinerary is customizable.
- Meet at Café du Monde for coffee and beignets and an introduction to New Orleans' story. -We'll then view and pass through the famous Jackson Square, discussing the city's most iconic buildings. -Passing beyond the Square, we emerge onto historic Royal Street, home of many of the French Quarter's nicest art and antique galleries. -We'll then walk to Rue Dumaine for a one-block primer on the City's famous Creole architecture, then on to Bourbon Street and legendary Laffite's Blacksmith shop for a refreshment stop. -From Laffite's, we'll wander past many more lovely, historic buildings, learning to differentiate among the different types and styles of Creole styles to view and discuss the oldest building in the city, the c1751 old Ursuline Convent. -From the old convent, it is only a short couple of blocks to our final destination at the French Market, where refreshments and bargain souvenir shopping await.
