Wynwood Walls is an amazing neighborhood of world famous outdoor art, which has evolved since 1900. First known as Lemon City, it transformed into Little San Juan (or Little Puerto Rico), and then Little Haiti, as the cultural makeup of the area shifted. Josiah Chaille and Hugh Anderson bought land, naming it "Wyndwood Park", which became simply "Wynwood". The roaring 20s brought a garment industry to the area, when Korean merchants opened shops to rival New York City in fashions, but much cheaper. Without alcohol restrictions, this was a great place for saloons, and the wild behavior that went along with it. In the 1980s, some artists bought the vacant "American Bakeries Building", and transformed it into an art gallery. Tony Goldman and his friend Jeffery Deitch bought six blocks and started the "Wynwood Walls". They wanted the walls covered in "urban street art", or what Jeffery called a "Museum of the Streets". As we explore, you'll notice the conflict among the developers and "new" residents!
As we drive along, you will see the early remnants of Lemon City, and the remaining signs of Little San Juan. Looking for "Wyndwood Park" is difficult, unless you know that it is now called "Roberto Clemente Park". We will drive along the warehouse walls from 27th Street down to 24th Street, to see the incredible outdoor murals. From there, we will stop at the original "Wynwood Walls" for photos and a stroll. Take a look at the Graffiti Museum, the Goldman Global Arts, and the Concrete Beach. Try Zak the Baker Café, or go the other way to Joey's Italian. Back in the car, we'll drive to the nearby Garment District, where we can stop to shop for fashions, or visit the Unicorn Factory. Visit the "RC Cola Events and Street Art" to see what's going on. Or, relax at Wynwood Brewing for a taste of some local beers, or a stop at Panther Coffee for their fresh-roasted coffee. We will surely encounter some construction sites, as developers are adding condos and apartments as quickly as they can.

I use a beautiful, spacious, luxury GMC Yukon XL with leather seats, 3 rows that carry 1 guest in front, 3 in the 2nd row (bench seat) and 3 in the 3rd row, with 45 square feet of luggage/cargo space behind the 3rd row. Total guest capacity is 7, unless seating space is taken for luggage. The SUV is fully insured with commercial passenger/limousine insurance, and is authorized for Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties. Add $100 if you have 5, 6 or 7 guests. More than 7? Please message me.
