Everglades and shared Air Boat ride.

Drive due west from the city of Miami. The Everglades starts abruptly past the last urban developments of the city. Following the Tamiami Trail, we arrive at the Miccosukee Indian Reservation. There we will board an airboat, a flat-bottomed vessel propelled in a forward direction by an aircraft-type propeller and powered by either an aircraft or automotive engine. Keep in mind that the Everglades is not a jungle or a swamp. It is a unique biosphere found nowhere else in the world. It is a vast, shallow, slow moving river which appears as a grass-covered open prairie stretching for miles. There is no dry land except small tree covered islands called hammocks. You will visit one such island where Miccosukee tribal members used to live. The likelihood of seeing fauna, other than alligators, cannot be guaranteed. At certain times of the year, birdlife is prolific, usually during the winter December to March period.
