I live in this wonderful neighborhood, so join me on our amazing walking tour of celebrity homes. We might even get the chance to spot a celebrity on the tour. I've bumped into Bette Midler and Micheal J. Fox while on the tour. We'll see homes to such celebrities as Art Garfunkel, Woody Allen, Stockard Channing, Polly Bergen, Anthony Bourdain, Marlene Dietrich, Faye Dunaway, Robert Redford, Simon Cowell, Sidney Lumet, Mike Nichols, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jon Bon Jovi, Michael J. Fox, Madeleine Kahn, Ralph Lauren, Bette Midler, Christopher Reeve, J. D. Salinger, Vladimir Horowitz, Andy Warhol, Joanne Woodward, Paul Newman, and William Friedkin. We'll even see where Lady Gaga and Lin Manuel Miranda went to high school.
The 100 minute walking tour is available daily at 3:00 p. m. We meet on the front steps of the famous Metropolitan Museum. First on the list is the former hotel where Jazz saxophonist Charlie Parker spent his last night on Earth. Next we'll see the hotel where President John F. Kennedy maintained an apartment on the 34th floor for the last ten years of his life, and where Broadway legend Elaine Stritch lived. Madonna's Brownstone compound is next before we see the former homes of Madeleine Kahn and Marlene Dietrich. We'll see the building where film director William Friedkin lived after his success with "The French Connection. " Next up are the former homes of Truman Capote, Christopher Reeve, Andy Warhol, film director Sidney Lumet, author J. D. Salinger, actress Stockard Channing, Katie Couric, Woody Allen, American caricaturist Al Hirschfeld, and more. The tour ends at about 4:45 p. m. in front of the Fifth Avenue highrise where Polly Bergen, Robert Collier, and Leopold Stokowski once lived.
