Kauai's Waimea Canyon and South Side Private Tour

I have been doing this tour for nearly ten years now and I have had some really epic days with guests seeing rainbows, whales, the Hawaiian pueo owl, turtles, seals, big surf- the list goes on.

I think the reason that people like the tour is that I'm a friendly people person and enjoy sharing my deep respect for the island with others. I have called Kauai home for nearly twenty years.

This tour takes you to all the crucial must-see gems of Kauai's south and west shores including the canyon where we take some walks to see stunning views of the canyon and see native plants that were used by the Hawaiians for many things.

Listen to three historical tales. Keep your eyes open for wild goats, chickens and pigs. Taste various types and flavors of coffee and eat at one of the best restaurants, local spots, or food truck. Be assured you will be taken to stellar spots for taking photos of both scenery and yourselves. I may even sing and play the ukulele for you : )

There is a five dollar per person entry fee in the Waimea Canyon/Kokee State Park plus $25 for commercial vehicles.

This tour ventures to some of the island's most spectacular destinations, including Waimea Canyon, Kalalau Valley and the Spouting Horn.

The day begins with a visit to the legendary Menehune Fishpond. After visiting Kauai Coffee Plantation with complimentary coffee tasting and a walking tour we will head to the Grand Canyon of the Pacific.

With its vibrant red soil and amazing greenery, it definitely is one of the most spectacular sights on the island. We will stop for lunch at the Waimea town and explore historic Hanapepe town before driving to to the South Shore of Kauai to visit the famous Spouting Horn—one of the island's most photographed spots and where ocean waves send a geyser into the air. We will see Hawaiian green sea turtles.

Half Day Kapaa Bike Path for Foodies with a Private Guide

The Kapaa bike path is epic, so we'll take our time to enjoy it. Our 8 mile bike ride along the eastern coast of Kauai on beach cruiser bicycles (or 6 miles if you prefer to cut it a little short), is broken up by stops for coffee, taro donuts, a delicious lunch, and shave ice or ice cream.

As we eat, we'll talk story, and I'll tell you all about the island - its people, history, culture, plants, animals, plus places to go and things to do. Along our bike ride, I'll take you to secret off-the-path overlooks and beaches, and I'll keep my eye out for whales (from December to April), endangered Hawaiian monk seals, and other wildlife to show you!

This experience is along a paved bike path, not an actual road, so there are no cars to worry about as you soak it all in!

Volcano Discovery Hike with a Local Guide

Embark on a thrilling Volcano Discovery hike, filled with breathtaking sights of Mauna Loa, steam vents, craters, lava fields, and a lava tube.

The adventure begins from the visitor center, descending into Halema'uma'u crater through lush rainforests adorned with a vibrant array of ferns. Witness the hardening lava lake of Kilauea and climb the crater wall for panoramic views. Hike along two craters, listening to native Hawaiian bird songs. Descend into Kilauea Iki crater, explore Pu'u Pua'i, spot unique insects, and admire the majestic Koa'e Kea. Visit Thurston Lava Tube and return along the Crater Rim Trail, soaking in views of Kilauea Iki and Halema'uma'u crater. This tour includes many beautiful beaches, waterfalls, and a chance for a true cultural experience.

I have been doing it for over ten years and the things you may see and experience on this tour are pods of whales, overflowing waterfalls, albatross and frigate birds, turtles and endless scenic beauty. I enjoy just being out on the land and by the ocean on Kaua'i because it never fails to nurture my mind and body as well as surprise me.

What I like best about taking travelers around is going to places on the island that one might miss without a local and giving people and understanding of the island.

There is one wild beach I take people to where we have had the most amazing experiences getting close to monk seals and seeing pods of seven or more humpback whales from atop a cliffside.

Travelers are welcome to change the day a bit to include activities like hiking or swimming.

Custom Kauai Experience - All Aboard!

Experience the beautiful North Shore of Kauai. Our first stop is the Wailua falls, with a breathtaking 173' drop. In the distance we see Mt. Waialeale, the wettest spot on Earth!

Heading north we'll stop at the Opaeka'a waterfall and enjoy a majestic view overlooking the Wailua river valley.

The next stop is your choice of either the Kauai Hindu Monastery or Smith's Tropical Paradise, a tropical botanical garden with lots of peacocks and other birds you can feed. Great picture taking!

On our way north we travel through the town of Kapaa where we see 100 year old coconut trees. Learn about the legends of Kalalea Mountain and the secrets that it hides. Next stop is the Kilauea Lighthouse with incredible views and a multitude of birds gliding overhead.

We head to Hanalei town for lunch and shopping. Then we take a walk out on Hanalei pier for spectacular views of Mt. Namolokama and the beautiful Hanalei Bay.

Coast, Cave, & Creatures - Kauai Half Day Hiking Tour

Come on a 4 mile long hike exploring Kauai's southern coastline! All along it, I'll be sharing interesting information about Kauai's plants, animals, history, archaeology and culture.

Our hike departs from Shipwrecks Beach, where we'd often see people getting married, surfing, and cliff jumping. These cliffs we'll be walking on top of remind me of Greece's white sea cliffs! We'll also be trekking over and along remote beaches, a world class golf-course, an ironwood forest, and an ancient Hawaiian heiau.

In addition to this, we'll see one of the most unique and special sites in all of Hawaii: Makauwahi Cave, Hawaii's largest limestone cave. This is the richest fossil site in Hawaii and a uniquely preserved archaeological site.

This hike is great year-round, but the winter (December through April) has the added bonus of a less intense sun and watching both surfers and humpback whales playing in the water (great time for whale watching).

Half Day Hiking Tour in Kauai's Rugged Jungle Heart

The mountainous interior of Kauai is rugged. . . but you are on vacation!

My tour blends the lush beauty and wild spirit of Kauai's jungle interior with cold drinks, locally-sourced food, a refreshing swim and private guiding.

Depending on your preference, we could go at a slower pace with plenty of stories and naturalist insights, or go a bit quicker and hike past the main overlook to reach further hidden treasures and views.

Since this is a somewhat muddy hike, rest assured we'll cool off in a jungle river. There's even a rope swing for the adventurous! You'll emerge refreshed and hungry, but I usually bring fresh fruit from the farmer's market, fresh local poke from the fish market, and local snacks and desserts.

I'll ask you beforehand, if you'd prefer traditional Hawaiian luau food, charcuterie, burritos or sandwiches! I usually bring cold beer, soft drinks and bottled water, and cut open coconuts for you to drink and eat (harvested that morning from my backyard).
