The mountainous interior of Kauai is rugged. . . but you are on vacation! My tour blends the lush beauty and wild spirit of Kauai's jungle interior with cold drinks, locally-sourced food, a refreshing swim and private guiding. Based on your preference, we could go at a slower pace with lots of stories and naturalist insights or go quicker and hike past the main overlook to reach further hidden treasures and views. This is a somewhat muddy hike, but rest assured we'll cool off in a jungle river. There's even a rope swing for the athletic and adventurous! You'll emerge refreshed and hungry. I usually bring fresh fruit, poke from the fish market, and local snacks. I'll ask beforehand if you'd prefer traditional Hawaiian luau food, charcuterie, burritos or sandwiches! I'll bring cold Gatorade and bottled water, and cut open coconuts for you to drink and eat (harvested that morning from my backyard). *Tour operated by Paul's Kauai Hiking and Biking Tours LLC*
-Once you reach the meeting point, we'll begin with a hike between 2. 5 / 4. 5 miles, depending on your pace and how far you want to go -We'll take in sweeping views of the lush mountainous interior and east side of Kauai down to the ocean in the far distance -At any point you request, we'll be able to hydrate with cold drinks that I'll carry for you -As we go, you'll learn about Kauai's plants, animals, history and culture. You'll be enjoying the birdsongs and solitude of Kauai's rainforest at every step. -We'll walk beneath massive albizia trees and admire the array of bright colors of rainbow eucalyptus trees at the Keahua Arboretum -At a certain point, we'll wash off and cool off in an idyllic mountain stream -You'll be able to enjoy cold drinks and a freshly cracked coconut -We'll then have a riverside picnic with locally-sourced food catered to your tastes, or expand your tastes and try new foods! -Finally, we'll return (Customizable itinerary)

State Highway 580, Kapaʻa, Hawaii, 96746 United States
Airport: ,Cruise: ,ByGuide: We will meet at the trailhead for the Kuilau Ridge Trail. It is on Hwy 580 (also known as Kuamoo Rd), Kapaa, HI 96746. You can park right at the trailhead, but no worries if you miss it. You can just keep driving another 100 yards or so over the tiny bridge and park in the parking lot right next to the river; then walk back over the bridge back to the trailhead you just passed. If it turns into dirt road you have gone too far and must turn around.
