Liliuokalani Gardens & Richardson Black Sand Beach - Hilo Private Tour

On this tour, we'll see Hilo’s own walk of fame which showcases the beauty & history of the Waiakea area. Known for the Japanese community that once inhabited it, a park commissioner once invited a celebrity guest to plant a Banyan sapling on the once coral peninsula, and the rest is history! Now the Liliuokalani Gardens share the beauty of Japanese decor with an authentic tea house still used for traditional japanese ceremonies. Commonly used as photo backdrops for family photos, the gardens also resemble the sister city ties between Hilo & multiple cities of Japan. On a more personal note, I love to shop at the local farmers market downtown! Often you can come across local farmers with freshly picked fruits & veggies. Another one of my common stops is Richardson beach. Known for its black sand, it tells the story of a Doctor who built a home to withstand the power of the ocean. But be mindful that on weekends & holidays, this can be a really busy area!
