Overview of your Charleston tour:

Beyond sightseeing, this tour provides a more in-depth view of Charleston. While it may be tempting to focus primarily on Charleston's beauty when touring the city, especially now that America's oldest and largest historic district has been restored to its pre-Civil War splendor, its architectural beauty is just part of its unique charm. For a deeper sense of what makes Charleston special, you'll also need to look into this city's inner beauty, including its genteel approach to life. As a certified guide with a B. A. in British Civilization, I'll lead you to the source of what makes this city special by examining its richly interwoven social fabric and culture. I'll show you how Charleston's 17th-century English aristocratic & Gullah cultural roots have shaped and distinguished it for over 350 years. By viewing Charleston's gracious lifestyle in this light, you'll gain greater insight into this city - and see why leading travel publications have voted it Best City USA every year since 2011.

Your Charleston tour itinerary

This tour begins by picking you up from your downtown location of choice. After which, I'll give you an overview of America's largest historic district by combining driving with walking. Without this overview of Charleston's 4.5 square mile historic district, you would miss key elements of what made Charleston America's wealthiest and most cultured colonial and Antebellum-era city. · After viewing the historic district, we will travel to see the famous Angel Oak tree. Experts have estimated this tree to be in excess of 1500 years old and the oldest living thing East of the Rockies. · Next, we'll visit America's only Tea Garen (Plantation) - an essential staple for the colonies most aristocractic, British Colonial City! - Finally, we will pass view the Sea Island town of Rockville and see where many of Charleston's oldest and wealthiest families have their summer homes before returning your downtown Charleston location.
