This combination walking and driving tour covers the sites, history and neighborhoods of Boston and Cambridge. We'll walk much of Boston's Freedom Trail, I'll share stories of the city's almost 400 year history, the events, people and sites that make Boston unique. This takes us into the oldest neighborhoods of the city. We'll then drive the rest of the city to admire the cobblestone streets, diverse architecture, green space and ocean views. We'll cross the Charles River to MIT which has some great quirky stories. Then on to the historic campus of Harvard for a walking tour around the public parts of the campus. We'll keep the day pretty flexible, stop at places you're most interested in, go into a few of the sites and stop for lunch someplace along the way (not included in price of the tour). I never miss a photo opp, so on the way back from Cambridge we'll pull in to admire the city skyline.
This tour covers a lot of ground at a leisurely pace. It gives you the chance to get into an old grave yard and walk onto a Revolutionary War battlefield and to see current day attractions like Fenway Park. This will give you an idea of what we cover. . . . Walk the Freedom Trail sites of: - Boston Common - State House - Granary Burial Ground - Kings Chapel - Old South Meeting house - Old State house - Faneuil Hall - Old North Church (time to go into the famous church) - Paul Revere house - Bunker Hill Historic neighborhoods of: - North End (known as Italian north end, we can stop of a cannoli if you have a sweet tooth) - Charlestown - Beacon Hill - Back Bay & Fenway Park - Copley Square Cambridge: - across the Charles river - Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) - Harvard Square - optional walking tour of Harvard Yard (subject to parking & time)
