We leave Plymouth by private vehicle and head across the River Tamar into the Duchy of Cornwall, a land apart. The North Coast of Cornwall is dramatic, both for the exciting weather that can give the sense of the edge of the continent, and the wealth of human history which can be discovered. With 3000 miles of Atlantic before the next landfall it is sometimes hard to imagine how ancient communities survived in this once inhospitable environment. Today, however, we benefit from safe roads, coffee stops and the welcome offered by locals. Our trip to Tintagel encompasses all of this, a medieval castle with dramatic views, little villages with nooks and crannies to explore and the immersion in Cornish culture ancient and modern. Taking people to this seat of ancient rulers has involved me in drawing walking labyrinths in the sand on the beach, sharing glasses of prosecco in the castle's ditch and taking a Cornish cream tea in a quirky Gothick castle. Every day, fun and adventures whatever we do.
-Depart from Plymouth by private transport. -Opportunity for photo stops on the journey of about 60 minutes -Arrive in Tintagel village -Walk to, or ride in a Land Rover (included) to the Castle and: i) for the less mobile is to stay on the landward side of the Castle remains, take in the views and learn about all the stories ii) cross the new bridge onto the island to see the remains of the Richard, Earl of Cornwall's castle and the evocative statue of GALLOS (Cornish for POWER) NB. this part of the tour involves lots of steps and rough uneven ground. -After visiting the Castle there are also several important sites within the village which we will visit, including the church of St Materiana and the Old Post Office, plus lots of opportunity for lunch and a varied choice of souvenir shops. -On our way back to Plymouth we will cross the wildness of Bodmin Moor, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

I am not a driver guide. A rented people carrier with AC and driver is included in the tour. Cornish and Devon roads are a delight, narrow in places but offering some spectacular views and in the spring a profusion of wildflowers.
