Oxford is known as the cycling city after all! On this tour, we'll cover all the University City's wonderful highlights, but also find time to enjoy Oxfordshire's scenic countryside and the Thames River. I'm an experienced Bike-Tour Guide and use safe, bike friendly routes. Having studied, worked and raised a family here, there are few questions I won't have an answer to; but when I don't, the gift of the gab comes out. I love seeing the city with fresh eyes every time I run a tour, experiencing the reaction guests have to this special place. It gives me natural enthusiasm to deliver a one-off experience for all my guests. I prefer using the term 'explorer' instead of 'tourist', as my tours take you off the beaten path and offer unique local stories. There're at least 14 stops along this tour, with time for photos, history and stories surrounding the locations. Having fewer stops is also an option if you'd prefer more time in the saddle! So come on explorers, let's discover the magic of Oxford together.
·We'll start off our tour in Jericho, where I'll make sure you're happy with your bikes. ·I'll proceed to summarize our route and discuss road safety. ·The first hour of the tour will be in and around the heart of the city, some highlights being: -The University Press -The Radcliffe Observatory -St Giles -The Eagle and Child Pub -Balliol College -The Sheldonian Theatre -Bridge of Sighs -The Bodleian Library, with a trip inside the Divinity School included plus a walk around The Bodleian quad. ·We'll then slowly make our way out of the city, towards the Pitt Rivers Natural History Museum. ·Next, we'll reach Keble College and then we'll have some time for a refreshment. ·Then its onto Oxford's peaceful waterway paths with a cycle out to the village of Wolvercote. ·At last, we'll ride down the famous Thames River path back into Jericho, via Port Meadow. This itinerary can always be customized to best meet your specific preferences.
