Oxford's intimate scale allows a rare proximity to antique cultural gems. An exceptional range of eras and techniques en situ! Iconoclasm swept through England, twice by the 18th century. In Oxford, devotional treasures were sheltered from zealots. Imagine scholars befuddling and persuading with theological riddles, providential threats and the odd bribe, waves of marauding soldiers and zealots. In a fourteenth century college, we'll feast on medieval craftsmanship, 18th-century Academic grandeur and amusing Victorian prudery. In a 17th century college, we'll see the Northern Renaissance in Oxford. University Church church is home to stunning examples of the Gothic Revival, inspired by the Oxford Movement, which was inspired by sermons in this very church. On this tour, I'll show you Oxford's oldest known examples of stained glass. Through it, I'll help you understand and discover this city's history and richness. Can be customised with collection and return to rail station optional.
