Next its a scenic drive through the South Lake District in Cumbria. You will pass Lake Coniston where Donald Campbell made his ill fated water speed record attempt & pass the copper mines of Mount Coniston itself. You will arrive in Grasmere & taste magical homemade Ginger bread as you are guided around this pretty village you will see the Church & headstones of William Wordsworth & learn the legacy left by Beatrix Potter whose children's books significantly contributed to preserving the Lake District for everyone. Your day includes a boat cruise on Lake Windermere & a heritage steam train ride before returning to Manchester.
