Follow me on this gruesome journey of tales from the 14th century plague pits in London, to grave robbers, mad monarchs, tortured bishops and unwanted wife sales! Experience for yourself, as I have, the rumble of the ground under your feet as you stand on the plague pits of 50, 000 dead people. I will tell you some chilling stories and walk you through the most atmospheric locations in London. You'll learn about the resurrections, beheadings and hauntings from London's past, including the curious case of scratching fanny and the seance that lead to the arrest of an innocent man. We'll cover the place where Henry VIII and his daughters were murdered and the hospital where grave robbers earned a living from the dead as well. You'll also get to stand where the last public hanging took place outside one of London's notorious prisons. Will you smell the burning from the stake? Come with me if you dare!
·At first, you'll be picked up from your chosen central London location. ·Afterwards, we'll head to Charterhouse, a 14th century catholic Monastery, where we'll walk over the plague pits of London. ·Next, we'll go over to Smithfield's Meat Market. ·Later, we'll walk through the graveyard of London's oldest in use church, St Bartholomew the great. ·We'll then see where Bloody Mary gained her notoriety at the gatehouse. ·Next, we'll pass by St Bart's Hospital to learn about grave robbers. ·Later, we'll visit St Sepulchre Church, the 11th century home of the execution bell that tolled the night before hangings. ·At last, we'll reach the notorious Newgate Prison where the condemned set out from, to be hung on the 3 legged mare, now a courthouse where some famous cases in British legal history have taken place, such as Oscar Wilde, Dr Crippen, John Christie & the case that helped change history: that of William Penn. ·At the end of the tour you'll be dropped off at your chosen location in central London.
