We walk through Whitechapel to the scene of the Battle of Cable Street where the people of the East End opposed the British Union of Fascists in 1936. We also visit the Victorian Hospital, the Blind Beggar pub - haunt of the notorious gangsters - the Kray twins, a place associated with Jack the Ripper , the scene of an infamous 1911 shoot out in Sidney Street, the home of the founder of Tesco retail chain, and a hostel where Stalin, Orwell and Jack London stayed. We see some old and nearly derelict Synagogues, an amazing Hawksmoor church, a thriving mosque, a preserved Victorian music hall and the first meeting place of the Salvation army. We get the flavour of the old East End, the drive of the people, the poverty, the crime and the radical politics including Anarchism, Communism and Fascism.
