This tour of between one and five days aims to provide a broad overview of this magical area, as we traverse the park north to south, then east to west. Located in the heart of the Lakes, the historic market town of Ambleside makes a perfect base for our adventures, giving good access to the surrounding passes and fells. All private transport between the locations (both classic and seldom frequented) is included.

On this fascinating tour, we walk in her footsteps to understand the story behind this remarkable woman, starting with her early years as a gifted artist to a pivotal moment at Wray Castle that changed the course of her life. Her later success as a children's illustrator enabled her to purchase land and property that were ultimately gifted to us all through the National Trust.

On this tour, we will attempt to understand Beatrix through the eyes of an impressionable 16-year-old to a mature woman who overcame the challenges of growing up as a female in Victorian Britain and who turned tragic events into positive outcomes. Ultimately, her conservationist vision left a lasting legacy to the Lake District National Park that we all benefit from to this day.

Come along on a fascinating guided walk to uncover Carlisle's heritage from Roman times.

Carlisle is layered with over 2000 years of history from pre-Roman times to the present day. On this tour, we will discover the rich heritage of this great 'Border City' that was claimed by England and Scotland over centuries. We will wander along the ancient city streets and walls, discover the story behind the ancient Guildhall, consider the peculiarities of the Cathedral, and stumble upon the unexpected at St Cuthbert's Church.

Renowned historical photographer Ashley P. Abraham famously described the Lake District as containing 'more natural beauty, more literary associations and more diversity of charm than any other similar area of the whole of the Earth's surface' - and having journeyed widely as a professional travel photographer I'm very much inclined to agree.

This proposed three-day tour (the duration of which is flexible depending on your requirements) explores some of the most photogenic locations the Lakes have to offer, with a flexible itinerary as we follow the best light, seasonal conditions and weather. The trip is suitable for all photography levels, be it a beginner looking to use a camera for the first time or a seasoned pro looking for guidance on the best vantage points.

How hard we push is completely up to you - I don't mind working from sunrise to sunset, but equally happy to offer a more relaxed experience with plenty of cafe stops! There's also the opportunity for some theory sessions in the evening.
