Classic London Highlights Full-Day Tour (7 hour inc. lunch)

I will take you on a panoramic tour of my home city of London, taking in many of the most iconic landmarks. You will enjoy an entertaining, fun and factual commentary stopping at many popular locations including Westminster Abbey, St Paul's Cathedral, Buckingham Palace, Tower of London and much, much more.
I will take you where buses cannot go and you will discover the REAL London and some of it's hidden secrets with a knowledgeable London "Cabbie" who really knows the City.
I will collect you from your hotel, or any other agreed London location, and we will trace back 2000 years of history together to London's Roman foundations and travel through time to the modern day metropolis that London has become.
As well as some hidden gems we can also include any particular requests you may have to make your day as individual, special and memorable as possible.
This is the extended 6 hour tour which includes a complimentary hour break for lunch (thereby becoming a 7 hour tour)

London has a fantastic history dating back to Roman times when it was named Londinium. Our tour of the history City of London will uncover the beginnings of the city and how it evolved during its many challenges during over 2, 000 years. Private groups will be personally be guided by me through the area enabling the inquisitive traveller to easily engage with my city's rich culture.

We start at London's famous St Paul's Cathedral, which is the fifth version of St Paul's since 604 AD. We take a walk through the narrow streets of the former site of the Blackfriars Dominican Priory and Shakespeare's indoor theatre. We may take a drink at a beautiful Art Nouveau pub before continuing past the notorious Bridewell Prison. Onwards to the site of the first printing press, we then emerge onto Fleet Street, the home of journalistic London. Maybe a quick drink at one of the oldest pub interiors in London before passing Dr Johnson's House and continuing up the the Royal Courts and Lincoln's Inn where we finish.

Shoreditch is a popular area of London. But this has not always been the case. During the 19th Century, the East End of London was a dark and dingy place. The people here lived in extreme poverty, living in boarding houses, where beds were shared by up to 24 other people and would be rented by the night.

Being close to the docks of London this area has a long history of immigration from the Huguenots fleeing Catholic France in the 17th century, the Irish fleeing the "Potato Famine" in the mid-1800s and The Jewish people fleeing the pogroms of the late-1800s. Today it's home to a large Bengali community as well as cool hipsters seeking to connect to the cool markets, street art, vintage shops and the wealth of cuisines on offer.

Join me on this fascinating walk through an area where my family have been living for generations! You will hear about the artists behind the cool street art, the people that have helped shape the area and try some local foods along the way.
