Join me for a stroll along the River Clyde, Glasgow's main river. Starting at Glasgow Green in the City Centre, we'll walk west, learning about how the river was used in the beginnings of the city. We'll talk about merchants and international trade, and how the river was vital to the city's growth. Along the way we'll see St. Andrew's Cathedral, monuments to Glasgow's Spanish Civil War volunteers, and some ever changing murals. We can then immerse ourselves in the Industrial past of Glasgow. Its a city that once built one fifth of the world's ships, becoming known as the Shipbuilding capital of the world, and the River Clyde was at the centre of this Industrial Powerhouse. We'll then discuss the decline of the River and its ongoing regeneration, and maybe squeeze in a wee dram of whisky at one of Scotland newest distilleries, before visiting the Riverside Museum, to see Glasgow's Industrial legacy first hand.
