Come explore Scotland's biggest city with me on a half day walking tour! Join me as to discover the history, architecture and culture of Glasgow's city centre from past to present. A city often referred to as being the cultural centre of Scotland, and for good reason! Find out why Glasgow was once known as the second city of the British empire, discover Glasgow's hidden past and of course what makes it so special, which is the people who have lived here from the past to the present. Glasgow is renowned for having some of the friendliest people, being voted the friendliest city in Europe numerous times, inspiring our city's slogan: 'people make Glasgow'. This is one that I think reflects the city well, and as a proud Glaswegian myself I look forward to sharing the wonders of a place I am so proud of with you!
Suggested Itinerary: -We shall begin our tour visiting Glasgow Cathedral to learn about the city's history from its beginnings in medieval times. -Then, Glasgow Necropolis, the Victorian City of the Dead plus some of the best views over Glasgow. -Next, High Street (Glasgow's oldest street) and the famous St Mungo's mural. -After, a walk through Merchant City to discover Glasgow's hidden past. -We'll see the Gallery of Modern Art & Duke of Wellington Statue from the outside. -Then, George Square, our city's main square. -Afterwards, Buchanan Street or locally known as 'the style mile' is our main street in modern times. -Our tour will end seeing the original Mackintosh at the Willow Tearooms from the outside and hear about our city's most famous architect, designer and artist. We'll stop at a local pub or cafe for a 30 minute break along the way depending on what you'd prefer. I'm more than happy to customize this tour to suit any specific interests. Timings and duration can also be altered accordingly.
