Derry Historical and Political Walking Tour

I started as a guide just after graduating from University of Ulster, having achieved a B. A Honours Degree Irish History and Politics. I enjoy explaining the history of Ireland and Derry to my guests. That's the reason why this historical and political tour will incorporate Derry's Walls, the Bogside murals and Bloody Sunday. Our historical tour begins with St. Colmcille, the Nine Years War, the Plantation of Ulster, the Siege of Derry, the 1798 Rebellion and The Great Hunger and emigration. The second half of the tour will take you into the heart of the Bogside district of Derry, the crucible of the modern day conflict in Ireland. This will begin at Free Derry Wall and take you round the Bogside murals and the site of the massacre of Bloody Sunday. My father was the 12th victim of Bloody Sunday, having been shot in the back and died moments later. We'll finish at the Bloody Sunday monument in view of the Derry Walls, looking at the key periods leading up to and during the 'Troubles'.
