For over 200 years, ''Wales roofed the World'' with more slate being exported from the North West of Wales than the rest of the world combined. The Story of Slate visits 3 World Heritage Sites where you'll learn how slate was produced, visit the high mountain barracks where some miners lived and discover the obscene wealth earned by the mine owners at their lavish stately home. As I drive, I'll tell you the story of the history, culture and language of Wales from a local's viewpoint and you'll learn how Wales has managed to keep its Celtic identity despite being the neighbour of one of the most powerful countries in the world. This driving tour stops at scenic, historic and cultural points of interest. It starts at 09. 30 and runs for approx 8 hours. My late model, fully licenced Mercedes sedans and MPVs feature climate control and leather seating and can take up to 7 passengers. I offer complimentary pick-up and drop-off at your hotel or cruise berth within North Wales.
