A great full day of exploring a beautiful part of Wales that has some fantastic views and photo opportunities, with plenty of history to add to it. Snowdonia national park has always been a favourite place of mine to hike and walk and offers a stunning selection of landscape to take in. We will visit both here and also the beautiful village of Betws-y-Coed, along with the the walled town of Conwy which is home to the iconic 13th Century "Conwy Castle".

North Wales Castles and Mountains trip!

I live in Conwy and will be delighted to ensure you get a real sense of the town as locals do. That's why this tour will mix history, stories and food tasting.

We meet at the heart of the town and walk on a short section of the town walls to then enjoy the spectacle of this magnificent UNESCO world heritage castle. I'll have the tickets and we'll head inside for a tour of the immense fortifications, with the added insight of a local and qualified official guides knowledge.

After the visit to the castle, we'll head straight into the medieval walled town and genuinely taste Conwy where I'll recommend visits to local food and drinks, craft businesses meeting the owners and sampling their wares. You'll continue to get tales of local characters and the history of the town on our wanderings and all the instagramable places like the Smallest House in Great Britain and the pretty quayside.

I live in Conwy and have been an official Wales Blue Badge Guide for 20 years will be delighted to ensure you get a real sense of the town as locals do. This one and half hour tour mixes history, stories and points out the best places to eat and shop. I have made a traditional Welsh Lady costume - tall black hat and all.

Private Snowdonia & The 3 Castles Tour

Come join me on my favourite hike in the Snowdonia National Park taking in archaeological sites along the way. We'll leave the World Heritage Conwy Castle and walk up through the gorse and heather to the top of Conwy Mountain to check out the Iron Age fortress there ascending 1, 000 feet but we'll be rewarded by the views over to the Great Orme limestone peak in Llandudno and across to the island of Anglesey.

We then continue across undulating moorland crossing little streams and We'll probably see the wild mountain ponies and almost definitely the welsh mountain sheep.

We eventually reach the Druids Circle - a site that's most definitely much older than when the Druids lived, dating back to neolithic times. We then follow old droving roads descending the mountain past old granite quarry workings down to finish at the bus stop where we'll take a regular bus (leaving about every half hour) back to Conwy.

This hike lasts 4 hours and ascends(and descends) over 1000 feet. You'll need good hiking footwear

Caernarfon Castle. A UNESCO World Heritage Site described as the most important example of medieval military architecture in Europe. Built by Edward 1st of England in 1287 and part of his Ring of Iron built to subdue the Welsh after the English conquest. Don't call it a Welsh castle in front of a Welshman!

Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa in Welsh) is the highest peak in Wales and stands at 1085m above sea level. From its summit, you can look across the stunning mountains and narrow ridges across Snowdonia National Park towards the North Wales coastline.

We will climb Snowdon by one of the classic mountain routes that lead to the summit. I will guide you also in the heritage, culture, and environment as we walk along the path passing mountain lakes, waterfalls, ancient monuments, and traditional hill farming.

Departing the arranged pick up point we will travel through the Mountains of Snowdonia visiting an Ancient Church and the story behind Llewelyn the Great's Stone Coffin which resides there. We will visit Llewelyn's birth place at Dolbadarn Castle, strong hold of the Welsh Princes for centuries. Caernarfon, site of King Edward 1 of England majestic castle built between 1283 and 1287 in order to consolidate his conquest of Wales. Also site of the investiture of the Princes of Wales in 1911 and 1969 . We will wander around the walled town and enter the castle to explore. After lunch in one of taverns we will visit travel to Conwy and take a guided tour of the medivel town considered to be one of the finest examples of late 13th century military architecture in Europe.
