A great full day of exploring a beautiful part of Wales that has some fantastic views and photo opportunities, with plenty of history to add to it. Snowdonia national park has always been a favourite place of mine to hike and walk and offers a stunning selection of landscape to take in. We will visit both here and also the beautiful village of Betws-y-Coed, along with the the walled town of Conwy which is home to the iconic 13th Century "Conwy Castle".

Holyhead Shore Excursion - Highlights of North Wales

This is my ideal private tour if you are coming to Wales for just one day and looking for a private shore excursion from Holyhead Port.

We'll explore the mighty mountains of Eryri/Snowdonia and learn about the legends of Wales. We'll visit the ancient castles built by the English to subdue the Welsh in the late 1200s. We'll see the sweeping coastline and massive sea cliffs of Anglesey and learn about the industrial era when 'Wales roofed the World'.

As we drive, you'll learn the stories of the history, culture and language of Wales from a local's viewpoint and you'll learn how Wales has managed to keep its Celtic identity despite being the neighbour of one of the most powerful countries in the world.

This driving tour stops at scenic, historical and cultural points of interest. It starts at 08. 30 and runs for approx 8 hours. My late model, fully licensed Mercedes sedans and MPVs feature climate control and leather seating and can take up to 7 passengers.

The following itinerary can be customized:

Caernarfon Castle. A UNESCO World Heritage Site described as the most important example of medieval military architecture in Europe. Built by Edward 1st of England in 1287 and part of his Ring of Iron built to subdue the Welsh after the English conquest. Don't call it a Welsh castle in front of a Welshman!

We meet at the heart of the town and walk on a short section of the town walls to then enjoy the spectacle of this magnificent UNESCO world heritage castle. I'll have the tickets and we'll head inside for a tour of the immense fortifications, with the added insight of a local and qualified official guides knowledge.

After the visit to the castle, we'll head straight into the medieval walled town and genuinely taste Conwy where I'll recommend visits to local food and drinks, craft businesses meeting the owners and sampling their wares. On this tour we will walk through a time span of millennia looking at its prehistorc past, its Roman legacy, the age of the saints its more recent maritime and industrial history, its architectural highlights and the towns role in connecting the United Kingdom with Ireland over many hundreds of years.

This one and half hour tour mixes history, stories and points out the best places to eat and shop. I have made a traditional Welsh Lady costume - tall black hat and all.

Leave Betws and drive through the Snowdonia National Park and its rugged mountains, then onto Llanfair PG, this is the place with the longest name in Wales, get a picture under the sign on the railway station.
