Perge and Aspendos / Half Day Tour ( Tour 04 )

There is no doubt that Perge and Aspendos are the most ancient historical places on the pamphilian coast of Antalya to be visited by millions of tourists every year. Perge, one of Pamphylia's foremost cities, was founded on a wide plain between two hills 4 km. West of the Kestros (Aksu) river. Skylax, who lived in the fourth century B. C. and was the earliest of the ancient writers to mention Perge, states that the city was in Pamphylia. In the New Testament book, Acts of the Apostles, the sentence "…when Paul and his company loosed from Paphos, they came to Perge in Pamphylia" suggests that Perge could be reached from the sea in ancient times. Aspendos was an ancient city in pamphylia, Asia Minor, located about 25 miles (40 km) east of the modern city of Antalya, Turkey. It was situated on the Eurymedon River about 10 miles (16 km) inland from the Mediterranean Sea; it shared a border with, and was hostile to, Side. This tour is for history and ancient city lovers.
