Helen of Troy: Half-day Shore Excursion to Troy from Canakkale

Ancient Troy is famous for the legendary Trojan Horse from the times of an equally legendary couple: Helen and Paris. Homer immortalized Troy with his narration of the stories of King Priam, Hector, Paris and the beautiful Helen. Excavations on the site have revealed at least nine separate periods of settlement. The ruins include a temple, a theater and the foundations of other constructions. Today, a recent wooden copy of the famous Trojan Horse symbolically stands at the entrance to the site to recall its legendary origin, long since vanished. By the way you will have a chance to visit Troy Museum which has received 2020 European Museum of the Year Special Appreciation Award and the European Museum Academy Special Award. This tour is arranged to the southern tip of Gallipoli Peninsula where British and French soldiers fought in WWI. Especially after naval operations in march 1915 Cape Helles was an inevitable place for landings. That is why Allied Forces landed at the beaches coded as ''S, V, W, X and Y'' We are going four of them to see and understand how the conditions were for both side. For Turkish, French and British men who fought and fallen here there are memorials. We are visiting some cemeteries as well.

In 259 days, thousands of soldiers from several different nations died or wounded. As it is a little bit close to history, the grandsons of the heroes that lost their lives on the battlefields are still trying to follow the footsteps of their ancestors. The battlefields can still tell you what had happened in those days as it is well preserved. British landing operation on 25th April 1915 could have changed the whole history.
