This is an historic expedition to explore the 18th century Ivory and Slave trade routes in East Africa. We will cover between 900 km to 1250 km. The journey will start at Ujiji in Kigoma Tanzania up to Zanzibar via Bagamoyo. This route is considered to be the longest route in East Africa during the 18th century. It tooks up to 120, 000 slaves per year with 9 months of foot walk to reach the East African coast. It is within this route that Black Africans were taken as slaves during the 18th century and were sent to the Middle East, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Reunion Island, USA, Seychelles, Mauritius and to Europe. As an architect of this itinerary' I have worked hard to build a wealth of knowledge and personal experiences to let my visitors enjoy the trip as planned. My 10 years experience will let visitors see the historical villages where slaves passed, heritage sites, structures, people and Cultures. Email me if interested.
Day 1: Meet your Guide at the agreed entry point in Tanzania. After meet and greet you will be taken to your lodge for check in, dinner and overnight stay. The journey will also pass in Bagamoyo town which was the end of the slave trade caravans from Tanganyika mainland, then by sea route to Zanzibar Island. Zanzibar was a place where slaves were auctioned during the 18th century. Programmes from day 3 to day 14 are available inbox for interested travellers.
