Bagamoyo town is a place "where the ruins meet the Beach". Bagamoyo town is located 70 kilometers north of Dar es Salaam City, which is 1 hour and 50 minutes drive from Dar es Salaam City to arrive in Bagamoyo. While in Bagamoyo, visitors will visit and see the historical sites of the Arab settlers as well as Germans and British colonial history in Tanzania. A town was famous for the slave trade and ivory during the 18th century in East Africa. Monuments, old churches, mosques, museums and the college of arts are some of the interesting places to see. Meet your local guide at the hotel/ airport/ cruise ship in Dar es Salaam City for a tour brief. Thereafter, drive to Bagamoyo historical town. You will be offered a guided-tour divided into three parts. 1st Part: You will visit and see the historical village of Kaole and the Kaole Ruins of 13th century. This is the part which has created the history of Bagamoyo. 2nd Part: You will visit and see the Bagamoyo Stone town. This is the part related with colonial history, slavery and ivory trade during the 18th century. 3rd Part: Visiting the open air museum at the Catholic Church Mission.
