The Lion and the Caves

Lion Rock Fortress: An unrevealed story of Sigiriya holds the intense curiosity of many visitors and explorers. What is visible today is good enough to imagine the fortress existed in 5th century. Folk tales are not in the Chronicle, King Kassapa was a patricide and not a hero or patriot in the book. I doubt the real story, it must have been hidden behind the time permanently. Moreover, the excavations and restoration work carried out in the early 19th century cannot be accepted as being carried out fairly and legally. According to some reports, many of the workers who worked there have died unnatural deaths, while others have been permanently blinded. Having all those doubts never let me stop thinking about King Kassapa and his true life. Dambulla Rock Cave Temple: The monastery has been existing since the 4th century BCE, a natural cave halfway up on the gigantic rock may have given an idea to the craftsmen and artists to create this beautiful image house of the Buddha.
