Nobody should visit Tenerife without witnessing the dramatic scenery in the Teide National Park, breath-taking evidence that the Canary Islands were formed by prolonged volcanic activity.

Our excursion takes us deep into an amazing landscape of rock formations, giant lava flows and strange shapes and colours one could only imagine on another planet. The park was declared a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO in 2007 and is one of the most visited national parks in the World. In May and June the flora is amazing with the Retamas and Echiums in blossom. In winter, if we are lucky, Mount Teide will be even more photogenic with a covering of snow sparkling in the sunlight.

We will make numerous stops for spectacular camera shots. If requested and if we have time we might stop at a local inn to sample traditional Canary Island cuisine on our return. Discover a landscape from another planet! The third highest volcano in the world, is situated in the centre of Tenerife, a colossal stratovolcano of 3715 metres, known as Teide. For just one day you can play being geologists, biologists and botanists while enjoying a wonderful experience.

I will be able to show you the agriculture of the island and its famous banana plantations where I grew up and which I was able to study for years. Besides, I have a Master's Degree in the Interpretation of Tenerife's Cultural & Natural Heritage.

Let's explore different towns, viewpoints & a fishing village!

We start the tour in the capital of Tenerife, Santa Cruz. We will take a stroll while I will tell you the way of life of the inhabitants of this pleasant town.
Then we will go to the nearby town, San Cristobal de La Laguna, named a World Heritage City by UNESCO in 1999. You will be stunned at its patios of Mudejar architecture, with more than 600 patios in the city center. Through its streets, which still retains the original layout of the sixteenth century, you will get to know its interesting history and mystery legends, like the one that tells that are several tunnels, passages, and underground vaults dating from the immediate aftermath of the founding of the city.
'La Ciudad de Los adelantados', as it is also known in Spanish, also offers a wide gastronomic offer in its many taverns, cafes, restaurants, and in its market, where you can delight your palate with the richest Canarian delicacies.

On this 1. 5 - 2 hours drive you will see how fast climate and vegetation is changing on Tenerife due to the 2. 000 high meters we will make from the seaside to the high mountain area. This tour invites us to visit two of Tenerife's landmarks. The first is Icod de los Vinos. The second is the old port of Garachico. Icod is home to the amazing thousand year old Dragon Tree, alongside San Marcos, one of Tenerife's most beautiful churches, rich in Gothic and Flemish art.

Garachico is everyone's favourite, a delightful old town where time appears to have stopped many years ago. This means it retains a blend of simple Canary Island charm and old-time nobility. Narrow cobbled streets lead in and out to inviting cafes and restaurants at the very edge of the island's fiercest seas.

Garachico was the home of some of the richest 16th century merchants like the Genoese Ponte dynasty which made fortunes exporting Malmsey wine to England. Indeed, until most of the town was destroyed by a great volcanic eruption in 1706, this was Tenerife's port. If we have time, we might like a dip in one of the rock pools and if requested we will enjoy a tapas lunch at a traditional Canary Island inn.

Anaga is one of the oldest and most beautiful areas of Tenerife. Is the home of the Laurisilva (Laurel Forest), sharp hills and lovely hamlets.

Find out why Anaga is a Nature Reserve and World Biosphere Reserve since 2015. One of the most astonishing places in Tenerife located in the eastern tip of the island. An incredible area full of contrasts where we can observe from wild black sand beaches and strong waves, small hamlets that preserve all the charm of the ancient Canarian villages, to an authentic forest typical of the Tertiary Era. We will visit the nicest points of the Anaga Rural Park with the chance of tasting some of the local products of the area, such as a local coffee or the local pastries with sweet potatoes and almonds.

Orotava Valley and Gastronomic Experience

During the visit to La Orotava Valley located in the north part of the island, we will discover the particularity of its orography, with its steep slopes that descend to the sea; its climate, with the sea of clouds that helps to keep soft but warm temperatures all the year round; its vegetation, which stands out for its greenness and variety; its old-style architecture, with wonderful examples such as those of the historical centers of La Orotava, Puerto de la Cruz, and Los Realejos.
After visiting the most attractive corners of the Valley, we will taste the local cuisine visiting one of the guachinches. A guachinche is a small, traditional, establishment -usually located in the north part of Tenerife- where comfort food is served alongside with good quality wines: wrinkly potatoes with mojo, rabbit in salmorejo sauce, roasted pork. . . And these are just some examples of the rich delicacies that await us at the table.

Half-Day discovering the north of Tenerife with a local private guide

A visit to two of the most enchanting and historic towns in the Canary Islands, Puerto de la Cruz and La Orotava.

In La Orotava we will stroll through the old town centre, with its beautiful churches packed with sacred art and imagery. We will peep inside traditional noble homes which are now the heart of Tenerife's famous craft and drawn linen work and I shall tell you about the famous sand carpets.

Puerto is regarded as Spain's original tourist resort although it maintains its old-time charm as a walk through the pretty town will show. It was the destination for many Victorian travellers on their way to other worlds and therefore there are plenty of anecdotes to share about what they said and did on the island.

Historical Villages and Old Ports in Northern Tenerife- Full-Day

Puerto de la Cruz, a historical, quaint fishing village is known by the old port of the city. Some days a week are seen fishers selling fresh fish from the fish stalls.
Buenavista, a quiet northern municipality in which Teno massif is located, is one of the hikers' favorite places. On the base of the impressive mountains, there is a big plane full of banana plantations. We will cross the plantations on our way to the coast. From there, you will enjoy an amazing view of the Ocean and Teno Mountains on the back.
Garachico is one of the most pleasant towns in Tenerife. During the sixteenth century, it had big importance as it served as a hub between Europe and America. You will know here an awesome episode in the history of Tenerife.
In Icod de Los Vinos we will stroll through the beautiful squares and its cobbled streets. There, we will find one of the symbols of Tenerife, the thousand-year-old dragon tree, a native species of Macaronesia that for centuries has embellished many corners of the island.

One Day Trip Through the Coastal Landscapes of Tenerife

Visit the Anaga Mountains on a Half-Day Shore Excursion

My favourite region and a green hiker's paradise!

Leaving the cruise ship port in Santa Cruz behind we will drive to the white Teresita's beach, unique on Tenerife.

Afterwards the small mountain road leaves the dry coast and brings us into the "Monteverde-Region" the green hills. Here you will discover a special laurisilva vegetation: old prehistoric laurel and heather trees. The green dense forest varies with impessioning views to the end of the island and over the Anaga mountains. Are you curious to walk a bit into the laurel forest? Let's go for it!

We will make a stop in the heart of the Mercedes forest nearby the visitor center Cruz del Carmen where you will be able to get in touch and to smell nature.
If time permits we can make a short stop in the historic center of La Laguna before we drive back to the cruise ship harbour.

Explore the green and natural north-east of Tenerife.

The dramatic scenery within Teide National Park is a reminder that Tenerife was formed by prolonged volcanic activity.

The Teide Cable Car transports us effortlessly to just 163 metres below the summit, (to a height of 11, 663 ft above sea level).

By walking along the rocky tracks just under the crater this tour provides spectacular views, not just of the amazing volcanic landscapes below, but also over the north and south of the island, sometimes partly hidden by a fabulous white sea of cloud. In normal conditions other Canary Islands are quite visible.

Gliding over a geological gem of volcanoes, craters and lava flows provides us with an impressive array of colours and volcanic shapes. It is an amazing experience you won't find anywhere else in the world.

After returning to the base of the volcano we should have time to explore some of the other photogenic gems in Teide National Park.
