On this tour, we'll visit Segovia's main buildings, including the Roman Aqueduct, the Gothic Cathedral, The Royal Alcázar (castle and palace), the Jewish district, and several Romanic Churches. The town dates from the fifth century BC. The Romans built a magnificent Aqueduct which provided uninterruptedly water to the town for 2, 000 years, until the beginning of the 20th century. The end of the Middle Ages saw a golden age for Segovia, with a growing Jewish population and the creation of a foundation for a robust cloth industry. Several buildings of Romanic architecture were completed during this period. Queen Isabel I was proclaimed queen of Castile in 1474. The Cathedral, the last Gothic cathedral built in Europe, is known as "The Lady of Cathedrals". Its main tower is 88 metres in height. It was the tallest building in Spain until the 20th century. For further information about what this tour entails, you'll see there's a detailed map of the journey we'll take in this tour's picture gallery.
