The current Alhambra families correspond to the tourism movement that started in the 19th Century. Artists and writers like Washington Irving began to disseminate the beauty and the exoticism of this place and it meant the arrival of travellers to Granada.
And I belong to one of these families. I grew up in the Alhambra.

During the 1850's and 1860's, some entrepreneurs bought some houses in the Alhambra in order to have their businesses and also their homes inside the citadel. This is the case of my great-great-grandfather, Abelardo Linares, who was a photographer. Since then, three generations were born and grew up inside the Alhambra.
