The unknown and exuberant north - Gran Canaria Half Day Shore Excursion

Gran Canaria is mostly known as a tourist destination, but its essence is concentrated in the northern part of the island. Visit the charming village of Teror with its colonial architecture and typical Canarian balconies. Discover its basilica and its legend of the Virgin del Pino, patron saint of Las Palmas, and find out why it is today a place of pilgrimage. Stroll through the historic town of Arucas, agricultural center of bananas and sugar cane, where its buoyant economy led to the creation of the imposing church of San Juan, built by hand and in volcanic stone with some influences from Antonio Gaudí's Sagrada Familia. We will also visit the local rum factory. Sugar cane was introduced from Asia in the 15th century and was the most lucrative export product until American competition displaced it. We will also visit Firgas, the smallest village on the island, famous for its water staircase and its three-dimensional maps of the Canary Islands. Run factory closed on Saturday and on Sunday.
